BIDDEFORD, Maine - Angie Damon '10 (Scarborough, Maine) blasted a pair of home runs, including a grand slam, and totaled seven RBI to power the University of New England to a game two win and a sweep (4-1, 11-0) over Anna Maria College in The Commonwealth Coast Conference softball action Saturday afternoon at Claude Dubois Field.

The Nor'easters (16-10, 12-6 TCCC) led 4-0 in the third inning of game two when Damon cleared the bases after three consecutive UNE batters reached base via walk.  In the next inning Damon stepped to the plate with two aboard and belted her second home run of the day to complete the UNE scoring.  The game ended in the fifth due to the eight-run rule.

Lauren Webb '10 (Jericho, Vt.) notched a pair of hits in the game, while Katie Morin '08 (Lewiston, Maine) scored three times.  Jess Silvio '09 (Beverly, Mass.) picked up the win in four scoreless innings of work, surrendering just two hits and one free pass.

The Amcats struck first in game one following a lead-off single by Sarah Boyda '11 (Oxford, Mass.).  A steal and two wild pitches later, Anna Maria led, 1-0.

UNE scored three in the bottom of the second to gain a lead it would not relinquish.  Morin started things with a single and scored on a double by Ashley DePasquale '09 (Uxbridge, Mass.).  DePasquale crossed the plate later in the inning after a single by Julie Monteiro '10 (Portsmouth, R.I.).  The Nor'easters would add one more in the inning and another in the third due to a pair of Amcat errors.

Sarah Hamel '08 (Rochester, N.H.) went the distance for UNE in game one, allowing six hits and five walks while striking out eight batters.

Emily Nugent '11 (Worcester, Mass.) led Anna Maria (6-23, 3-15 TCCC) at the plate with three hits on the day.  Holly Renna '11 (Charlton, Mass.) pitched well for the Amcats in the opening game, limiting the UNE players to just four hits and a pair of walks while striking out 11.

The Nor'easters will visit Western New England College and Anna Maria hosts New England College on Sunday for TCCC doubleheaders beginning at 12:00 p.m.
